According to cancer research UK, the latest statistics available for breast cancer in the UK are; incidence 2013, mortality 2012, survival 2010-2011 (all ages combined) and 2009-2013 (by age) and screening in the UK is 2009-2010 and England is 2010-2011. Data for in situ breast carcinoma are; incidence 2013, mortality and survival data are not available. According to the National Statistics UK, survival estimates for those diagnosed with breast cancer have increased by more than 50% since 1971. For women (aged 15–99 years) diagnosed with breast cancer between 2006 and 2010 and followed up to 2011, the five-year survival estimate was around 84%.In comparison, among women diagnosed between 1971 and 1975 and followed up to 1995, only around 54% survived for five years or more. The improvement in breast cancer survival is associated with earlier detection and advances in treatment. Breast cancer survival was third highest after melanoma of the skin and Hodgkin lymphoma, for women diagnosed with cancer between 2006 and 2010 and followed up to 2011.

As a support service and awareness raising activity, the seminar will be focusing on how to prevent from cancer types, healthy life tips and early-caught symptoms. The seminar that will provide multi-vision presentations and leaflets, will be given by the oncology specialist Dr. Mine Çağlar.

The event will take place on the 20th of May, between 12.00 – 15.00 at the Bozca-Der Centre in Old Library Compton Crescent, N17 7LD.
