A Commemoration Ceremony took place in London for Turkish Martyrs

Turkey’s London Embassy, organised a commemoration event for the Gallipoli martyrs on its 101^st Anniversary, at the Brookwood Turkish Air Martyrdom. Amongst the attenders, were Turkish ambassador Abdurrahman Bilgiç, and Turkish Armed Forces atteche General Mehmet Çalkayış.

As London’s biggest private graveyard, Brookwood accommodated many other attenders like Northern Cyprus London representative Oya Tuncalı, ambassador undersecretaries Orçun Başaran, Güçlü Cem Işık, consul general Emirhan Yorulmazlar, air forces general Kubilay Selçuk, Religious Services Consultant Mahmut Özdemir and many others.

Ambassador Bilgiç Thanked

Ambassador Bilgiç, in his speech, said “Although Turkey lost an entire generation in the Gallipoli, the country still could rise from the ashes and got back on track. We commemorate our heroic martyrs with thankfulness.”

The event which started off with the national anthem and commemoration ceremony, ended with the religious services consultant Mahmur Özdemir’s prayer. Attenders brought red cloves on the graves of martyrs.

Woking municipal building, which is based in the Turkish graveyard territory, hanged a Turkish flag on its building. The municipal’s minister, Derek McCrum also participated to the event and approved that they have hanged the Turkish flag to commemorate the Turkish martyrs of Gallipoli.
