Rights groups criticise delays as Head of Committee investigating abuses of UK soldiers is confident of legal action.

Evidence including serious allegations of murder, torture and unlawful killing has been obtained by the UK’s ‘Iraw Historic Allegations Team’ (IHAT), Say Mark Warwick, the head of the team.

“I feel there is significant evidence to be obtained to put a strong case before the Service Prosecuting Authority to prosecute and charge,” said Warwick.

Human rights lawyers are deeply concerned at the slow speed of the investigations, and of are skeptical of Warwick’s confidence. Ministers have reportedly expressed interest in drawing plans to pull out of the European Convention on Humans rights next time the military is stationed to combat abroad.

This comes after the legal bill of £150 million has hit the UK during the investigations.
