OVER 50,000 PEOPLE have protested global warming and climate change in London at a demonstration protest which began at Hyde Park and ended in White Hall.

The protests and demonstrations took place in 2,500 cities across the world, cities in the UK also included Bristol, Edinburgh and Belfast.

Friends of the Earth organisation which organised the demonstration also saw charities including Greenpeace, Earth, Oxfam, ActionAid, World Wildlife Fund and Lancashire Fracking also attend which people coming from all over the country.

Head of the British Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn, fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, actresses Emma Thompson and Vanessa Redgrave, singers Thom Yorke and Charlotte Church and Green and Green MP Caroline Lucas were also among those who protested.

Before the march began, Head of Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn addressed the crowds by saying: “The issues facing the world in Paris this week are pollution, climate change, inequality, environmental refugees, war refugees and resources wars. “If we are to make a real difference in Paris, all these issues have got to be thought about and addressed.”

Chief Executive of Friends of The Earth, Craig Bennett describe the event as “a fantastic display of people power”.

The protest in Paris however saw incidents happen as a masked group fought with police officers, 100 arrests were made.
