A TURKISH student told his parents he loved them and that they should not worry after being injured in the attacks on London. Okan Burak (26) was travelling to his English classes on the Piccadilly line train when the bomb exploded between King’s Cross and Russell Square. ‘At first there was a loud bang and I didn’t know what had happened. At first I thought that the train had collided with another train, but when I saw that all the windows and the door had been blown out I realised it must have been a bomb,’ he told reporters last Friday. ‘My face was covered with blood. While I was waiting to be put on an ambulance my mobile rang. It was my aunty and I told her not to worry and to tell my mum and dad in Turkey that I was okay and that I loved them. After that I don’t remember much.’ Burak was hit by flying glass and was taken to the London Royal Hospital where he is recovering from his injuries. Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gül, in the UK this week, also paid a visit and wished Burak a full recovery. Okan Burak graduated form the Faculty of Media and Communication at Uludağ Univerisity in Turkey and came to London to brush up on his English. Condemning the terrorists, Burak said: ‘Where will this lead? Innocent people are being killed.’ Burak was one of a number of Turkish-speaking people caught up in the King’s Cross blast. The Piccadilly line passes through the north London boroughs of Islington, Haringey and Enfield, which have large Turkish-speaking populations.
