The violin-piano duo Ezo Sarıcı & Deniz Cengiz will take the stage on Saturday evening, January 20th, in Upper Norwood. The duo, whose concerts in the UK and Turkey last year captured the attention of music enthusiasts, will be part of their Britain tour, including Scotland and Wales. The London leg of the tour will begin at 7:30 PM.

The young duo presents a diverse perspective with a repertoire ranging from select classical pieces to symphonic works inspired by folk, jazz, romantic sonatas, and tango. They captivate the audience with their warm and dynamic performances.

The concert, set in a historic church in South London, will open with Sonata No. 2 by German pianist, orchestra conductor, and Romantic-era composer Johannes Brahms (1833-1897). The first half will conclude with the jazz classics “Summertime” and “A Woman is a Sometime Thing and It Ain’t Necessarily So” by the acclaimed contemporary composer George Gershwin (1898-1937).

The second half of the concert will commence with Brahms’s “Sonata No. 3 op.108,” depicting deep love anguish. The performance will continue with the famous piece “Grand Tango” by Argentine composer and bandoneon (small accordion) master Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992). The concert will conclude with “Horon,” a piece by our Republic-era composer, educator, and ethnomusicologist Ahmed Adnan Saygun (1907-1991).

The venue for the concert is the church at 1 Sylvan Road, London SE19 2RX. Ticket prices start at £7, and children under 16 can attend the concert for free.
