LONDON Fashion Week 2022 drew celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Iris Law, Naomie Harris and Amelia Hamlin across the pond to take in the latest from Britain’s best designers.
Taking their places in this year’s designer line-up were 4 Turkish designers ERDEM, Bora Aksu, Harem London and SEVDA LONDON.
The Erdem runways show took a dark, romantic twist. Floral prints were inky in tone for both men’s and women’s wear, and paired with tough luxe accessories such as studded leather opera gloves. In an interview back stage Erdem Moralıoğlu said: “Having designed menswear for the first time, I thought it was so interesting to see how the silhouette was transformed when you put it on a woman.”
Bora Aksu delivered a stunning collection infusing the past and present. For AW22 the brand decidedly transports us to the 14th Century, evoking the zeitgeist of renaissance Europe through the life of writer, poet and historian Christine de Pizan. The new seasonal collection takes you on a trip to the seminal period in European history and comprises of demi-couture pieces the brand is so well known for.
Bora Aksu’s deftness of touch and investment in craftsmanship also draws on his Turkish roots, giving his collections a unique demi-couture quality saying: ‘My grandma and my aunt were constantly working on creating something beautiful and I try to bring this handcrafted approach into my own design identity, to make the designs unique, but also to keep craftwork relevant to fashion today’
