Today (June 4) border crossing at all crossing points in Cyprus have reopened.

A traffic light system is being used to evaluate the crossing point and will be reviewed every 15 days .

Currently, all of the crosspoints are under level 2 (Orange) and require a 7-day negative Antigen test or PCR test.

In a statement, the United Nations Spokesperson in Cyprus Aleem Siddique said: “As per the agreement, the Technical Committee on Health will assess the epidemiological situation on a bi-weekly basis and determine the appropriate level to be applied at the crossing points, defined as:

Level 1 (Green): No restrictions

Level 2 (Orange): 7-day negative Antigen test or PCR test

Level 3 (Dark Red): General public: Closed Crossings for health reasons: 72 hr negative PCR test Crossing for work, education, residence-related purposes: 7-day negative Antigen or PCR test

The measures under Levels 1 and 2 will apply to all categories of people, bringing the situation at the crossing points back to the status quo ante pre-COVID 19 outbreak, including for third country nationals…”

This means foreign travellers will now be able to move through crossing points under level 1(green) and level 2 (orange) subject to requirements.

These requirements for Level 2 (orange) means:

A negative rapid or PCR test certificates in print form, dated within seven days of crossing date.

Results on text messages (SMS) will not be accepted.

The test certificates must also be in English, to be understood by the officials of each side as regards the bearer’s name, ID or passport number.

Minors over 12 also need to present a negative antigen test or PCR test to cross.
