Enfield Council is now moving on to the next phase of its A105 Palmers Green and Winchmore Hill Cycle Enfield programme.
The Council has made changes to the scheme in line with comments made by residents, businesses and other interested parties and the proposals took place at Palmers Green Library on Thursday 19 May from 3-8pm. People are also being sought to help shape the final design of some of the public spaces along the route by joining the A105 co-design workshops on Wednesday 25 May between 6.30-9.30pm, of which there are limited places.
A spokesman from the marketing team of the project said “The plans for Palmers Green, which are being delivered through the Mayor of London’s Mini Holland fund, will enable us to transform our high streets and town centres, promote healthier, more active travel and create safe and secure cycle routes.
“We’ve listened to what people have told us regarding our initial plans and made amendments. Residents can now see the final proposals and help design some of the public spaces along the A105 route.
“It’s an incredibly exciting time for Cycle Enfield as we are very close to starting work on the A105 scheme, which I am confident will enhance the area.
Cllr Anderson said: “The Cycle Enfield scheme, which will see £42m of external investment into the borough, is a once in a lifetime opportunity to improve our town centres, boost business, revolutionise our transport links and transform our borough into one which meets the needs of residents, businesses and people travelling through it.
“We said we’d listen to people who got involved in the consultation and we’ve done just that having made change as a result of the feedback we received.
“Many residents recognise that this scheme is going to improve their quality of life and bring dramatic improvements to this part of the borough and I’m looking forward to seeing its implementation.
As our population grows, future generations will thank us for the decisions we’re making today.
