Southgate MP David Burrowes and Ali Bakır, the Mayor of Enfield, were present at the switching-on at the Palmers Green Triangle next to the new clock tower.
Hazelwood School Choir entertained passers-by with festive carols, encouraging Mums, Dads and friends to join in the fun.
The event, which was sponsored by Anthony Webb Estate Agents, saw mince pies and helium filled balloons distributed while Ruth Winston House kept the audience warm with hot drinks.
The team was staffed by CC’s Nursery from St. Michael’s at Bowes Church and Scrivens Opticians, who handed out balloons and fun bags to the children.
The local business association, led by Costas Georgiou, said it hoped to buy raised flower beds for the triangle, which would be cared for by volunteers and feature.
