Tube travellers have endured miserable morning journeys to work due to problems on a number of Underground lines.
The worst difficulties were on the Central line where emergency engineering work meant there was no service between Liverpool Street and Marble Arch stations, with severe delays on the rest of the line.
There were also severe delays on the Circle line and the Hammersmith & City line due to a signal failure at Paddington, which also caused minor delays on the Metropolitan line.
On Twitter, some Central line passengers complained their commute had taken two hours, with some giving up trying to get in by train and deciding to queue in the rain for already-packed buses.
