Edmonton MP Andy Love has accepted an invitation to join the British Kebab Awards judging panel for 2015. The initiative, which celebrates the £2.2 billion annual boost the kebab industry gives the country’s economy, began nearly three years ago. A statement from Mr Love’s office said he nominated his local favourite, Capital Restaurant on Fore Street, and was delighted when owner Mehmet Demir was presented with a highly commended award for customer satisfaction. He continued: “The awards are a fun way to recognise the dedication, hard work and commitment of the individuals who have helped turn the humble kebab into what it is today. “We’re not talking about greasy donors anymore; we’re talking about delicious grilled meat, salads and great bread that’s healthy and often very reasonably priced. “We’re lucky in Edmonton to have such a choice of kebab restaurants, so I’m pleased to be able to be part of the judging panel for January’s awards and share that with the whole of the country. Here’s to a bigger and better celebration than ever!” To make a nomination to the Centre for Turkey Studies-backed awards, visit http://britishkebabawards.co.uk/make-a-nomination/. The deadline is 10 December 2014.#
