İsmayil İbrahim has been appointed as the new chair of the Cyprus Turkish Youth Association UK (KTGB UK), following the announcement of the organization’s updated leadership team. Established in 2018 in London, KTGB UK aims to preserve the cultural identity of Turkish Cypriot youth born and raised in the United Kingdom, while also combating assimilation and fostering social awareness. İbrahim, who previously served as vice president, will now lead the association into its new term.

The newly appointed board of directors includes İsmayil İbrahim, Mert Ahmet, Güner Gümüş, Ramadan Horozoğlu, Ayşen İbrahim, Cemaliye Hassan, Enis Kara, and Hüseyin Esmeroğlu.

In his first remarks as chair, İsmayil İbrahim reflected on the organization’s foundation and its journey to date. He highlighted that KTGB UK was launched in 2018 in response to the growing need for a platform that could support Turkish Cypriot youth in maintaining their cultural heritage and resisting assimilation in British society. He also praised the efforts of the association’s founding president, Nafiya Horozoğlu, noting how the work began with just four committed volunteers and quickly expanded into a dynamic and influential youth movement.

Speaking about the new term, İbrahim reaffirmed the organization’s mission and expressed his vision moving forward: “Since 2018, we have worked to strengthen the identity, culture, and sense of social solidarity among young people. With our new board, we are determined to take this mission even further. In the upcoming term, we plan to reinforce our connections with youth in the UK while building more structured and sustainable ties with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). We will continue working toward a future shaped by a generation that embraces its identity, questions the world around them, creates, and operates through a culture of solidarity.”

KTGB UK is committed to several core objectives: preserving the cultural identity and heritage of Turkish Cypriot youth, promoting solidarity within the diaspora, encouraging active citizenship, and amplifying young voices both in the TRNC and on international platforms.

KTGB UK has also taken part in international platforms such as the Diaspora Youth Forum organized under the Organization of Turkic States. These efforts have helped to strengthen cooperation with youth networks across the Turkic world and have provided visibility for Turkish Cypriot youth in these arenas.
