ESTABLISHED on October 21, 2018, to gather Turkish Cypriot young people born, raised, living or students in England the Turkish Cypriot Youth Union UK, the association has now added to its name.

Stating that they will continue on their way as the Turkish Cypriot Youth and Family Association UK (KTGABI), President Nafiya Horozoğlu emphasized that they will now speed up their families by expanding their spectrum.

Saying: “We are now expanding our service and range in this path we set out with the slogan of “A beautiful future, a future with young people”. As of today, we decided to add the name of our union and continue on our way as the Turkish Cypriot Youth and Family Association UK.

Young people who were born and raised in England for the first time after many years or came to the UK to study from Cyprus. We have been operating for about two years to unite our youth under one roof and create a strong voice. We are not only trying to do this but also trying to strengthen our bonds between the UK and Northern Cyprus and establish a solid bridge.

We grew as we believed and put effort. Most of us struggled against assimilation, both students and employees at the university, young people who managed to stand on their own feet. To protect the Turkish Cypriot identity and culture, we never gave up against all difficulties and obstacles. We did not come for a fight, we came to be a huge family in order not to lose our third generations and win our fourth generations…”

Explaining that the Turkish Cypriot community was highly affected by the Coronavirus, losing nearly 100 members, the pandemic has also how that the members of the community have issues like social isolation and the importance family and health care is.
