GREEK Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities living in the UK came together on 1 June Friday, at the Cypriot Community Centre to portray unity at the week of friendship and peace.
The Union of Cypriots in the UK (EKA) together with the Turkish Cypriot Organisations, Cypriot Artists Platform UK and Turkish Cypriot Association for Democracy had organised a joint event of Greek and Turkish Cypriot actors.Two theatres shows were performed during the week of “Friendship and Peace”, the theatre shows were also played in both Greek and Turkish. The theatre play performed at the event was called “Embittered in Greek, hurt in Turkish”, it was written by Mihalis Basardis, directed and played by Yaşar Ersoy and constructed by the poems of Faize Özdemirciler.
The theatre play was based upon the misery of separation in the island for over 60 years, the play compromised with the history of Cyprus, alongside its enormous language of poetry managed to reflect the emotions of many Cypriots.On Sunday 3 June at 3 pm Yasar Ersoy and Costas Kafkaridis will presented their joint Book-Album at the Turkish Cypriot Community Centre.
