Councillor Saray Karakuş was elected for the first time on 3 May and was determined to the ceremonial position at the Enfield Council’s annual meeting on 23 May, Wednesday evening.
Cllr Saray Karakuş was born in Turkey and moved to London at a young age and attended Lea Valley High School and Enfield College.
Karakuş managed a health and beauty clinic in the Enfield and subsequently started to participate in community theatre as an actor and scriptwriter. During the meeting, Cllr Saray Karakuş, who is the representative of the Haselbury ward, expressed her “sincere appreciation” to the councilors for their support and trust towards her.
She further stated: “I take this very seriously and I am committed to serving the people of the borough of Enfield to the best of my ability.”
