“Ermmm… This is not what I ordered. Day one of chemo……. So far, pretty underwhelming! 22 days since the big C diagnosis, went to get the staples which I was sooo excited about as they meant everything was getting back to normal, but unfortunately he had hit me with that news! Could he not have just kept it to himself for a while?? As my cousin Lynsey said ‘What a kick in the c*nt!!’”
These are the first few lines of the blog post I stumbled across almost a month ago now, little did I know it belonged to young lady whom I know until I carried on reading. Ever since, I’ve been hooked! I’ve also been in touch with the lovely lady herself to give my thoughts on her blog and share my support with her.
Hope, you are such an inspiration and I have to applaud you for being so brave and full of such adrenaline and positive energy. Every time I read a post, I’m either laughing out loud, there’s tears rolling down my cheeks or both: honestly, one minute I’m crying and the next, I find myself giggling.
From start to finish, each blog is full of life, full of details, yet above all, each one is full of HOPE… Not only do we hear about her daily tasks, but there’s so much more to it than just writing, even if you don’t know her, you feel like you have done all your life.
I don’t know her very well, yet in each post I feel like we’re having a full-on conversation about that day! From Chemo sessions and waiting for the boy next door to get-together’s and wig buying, Hope makes you part of it all, you just simply cannot help laugh at her wittiness and love the happy vibes she gives you.
“I was sitting there in the chemo chair and had nothing else to do and the blog just happened!”
I could write all day about how brave and inspiring this young lady is. I had the great privilege of speaking to Hope via a social network. Here’s what she told me:
“My sister kept saying it would be a great way to keep people up-to date with how I was getting on! I was really against it to start as didn’t feel like a very me thing to do but then I was sitting there in the chemo chair and had nothing else to do and the blog just happened! The response has been amazing and has really kept me going! So encouraging and it just really keeps me going from day to day when I am pulling my hair out from boredom! I’ve always got my job to do! Which is the blog!”
Hope, you are one of the liveliest people I’ve come across, you are more courageous than you know and I’m sure you’ll be fighting fit again very soon.
Cancer is a subject we shy away from, despite it being so widespread. Yet what we don’t realise is the more aware we are about the more we can help and support those diagnosed, together we can and will beat cancer.
