Union of European Turkish Democrats (UETD), organised an exclusive event for the celebration of Teachers’ Day. Hosted by the Efes Restaurant, many familiar faces from the community showed up at the event.
UETD board directors, including Turhan Özen, Erdal Yetimova, Ali Demirci, Egemen Tezcan, Abdullah Güven and UETD Portsmouth Vice President Şahin Cebeci, Turkish Republic National Education Ministry Councillor Emek Üşenmez and related teachers along with Northern Cyprus Education Attaché Gülgün Özçelik and related teachers, Turkish Language and Culture and Education Consortium President Necmi Hasanoğlu and Nottingham Turkish Commerce President M. Emin Ayınbas attended the event to relish the meaningful theme of the day.
UETD UK President Dr Turhan Özen, remarked various points in his speech as follows:
“In an era where money and monetary issues abound as our primary concern, I do believe money only itself doesn’t make societies happy. Human quality, on the other hand, is more than sufficient for happiness. I would like to take this moment to thank our immortal teachers who shape our future and engender our true happiness”
UETD Education Unit President Ali Demirci, in his speech, mentioned the cultural erosion through the globalisation and therefore it is vital for us to hold on to our values, and hold our teachers dearly more than ever.
The welcoming and festive event welcomed many teachers and education supporters over the tasty treats of Efes.
