More than £5000 worth of fake viagra has been seized after it was found being offered for sale at a car boot sale in Tottenham.
Trading Standards officers raided the boot sale on Sunday, which was held at Haringey Football Club’s Coles Park Stadium in White Hart Lane, and found tablets of fake male and female Viagra worth £5,460 on sale.
The drugs were seized and Haringey Council is working with the Medicines and Health Care Products Regulatory Agency to determine what action will be taken against the men.
A council spokeswoman said it was likely they would be prosecuted. Officers also seized £2,500 worth of counterfeit cigarettes and hand rolling tobacco that were also being offered for sale by two other men at the car boot sale.
Haringey Council Cabinet Member for Environment Cllr Peray Ahmet said: “Buying fake products risks your health and can fund types of organised crime.
“I’m pleased our Trading Standards team have taken these fake products out of circulation and we’ll continue to take tough action against anyone trying to sell them in Haringey.”
