The UK media is exploding with the news on Turkey’s biddings with the EU, leading Brexit campaigners to proliferate a scaremongering flow to use Turkey as a threat in the EU.

David Cameron has said claims the UK would not be able to block Turkey joining the EU are “very misleading”, insisting the UK retains a veto. On the other hand, a provoking news coverage by Sunday Express, misinterpreting a survey conducted by Konda by stating “12 million Turks will be relocating in the UK should Britain remains in the EU”. However, the survey only comprised 2685 Turkish citizens’ participation, answering to the question “Would you leave Turkey to relocate in the UK?” – The answer “yes” to that has been %15.8 which then “evolved into” 12 million by Sunday Express, stating as if the survey stated such a number.

Using the hostile campaign, the discourse practice against Turkey through justifying leaving the EU, defence Minister Penny Mordaunt said the migrant crisis would hasten talks over Turkey’s EU bid and the UK was powerless to stop it. The EU referendum was the “only chance” for the UK to have its say, she said.

Prime Minister David Cameron said this was “absolutely wrong” and raised questions about the Leave campaign’s judgement.

It would be “literally decades” before Turkey was deemed ready to join, Mr Cameron said, pointing out that the UK and every other EU member must agree – as well as 28 national Parliaments – to this happening.

With just over four weeks to go to the 23 June referendum on UK membership, NHS boss Simon Stevens has said leaving the EU would be damaging for the health service, while the Remain campaign has said food prices would rise sharply in the event of a vote to leave. Commenting on the scaremongering campaigns, Mr Cameron said “They’re basically saying vote to get out of Europe because of this issue of Turkey that we can’t stop joining the EU. That is not true.”

The Brexit campaigns, which are exposing prejudice and hostility towards Turkey have been scattering on social media, exposing messages to justify leaving the EU. However, distorting the research made by KONDA, a research company based in Istanbul is a worrying development that has turned Turkish politics a tool for Brexit campaigns.

“500,000 JOBS WILL BE LOST IF UK LEAVES THE EU”

Worryingly, an official analysis made by the Treasury indicates that a vote to leave the EU would tip Britain’s economy into a year-long recession. Britain’s economy would be tipped into a year-long recession, with at least 500,000 jobs lost and GDP around 3.6% lower, following a vote to leave the EU, new Treasury analysis launched today by the Prime Minister and Chancellor shows. Peaking at B&Q in Eastleigh, Hampshire, the Prime Minister and Chancellor set out the Treasury’s analysis of the impact on the nation’s economy over the immediate period of two years following a vote to leave.

This analysis shows that such a decision would cause an immediate and profound economic shock across the country, creating instability and uncertainty which would be made worse by the complex negotiations that would follow to agree the terms of Britain’s exit from the EU and its new relationship with the rest of Europe.

Echoing the recent warnings from the independent Bank of England and the International Monetary Fund, the central conclusion of the Treasury’s new analysis is that the effect of this profound shock would be to push the UK into recession and lead to a sharp rise in unemployment.

BARONESS ECE COMMENTED ON THE CAMPAIGNS

As Londra Gazete, we got in touch with Liberal Democrat Peer, Baroness Meral Hussein-Ece who has recently responded to scaremongering from the Leave campaign about the impact of Turkey leaving the EU. She said “This is dangereous and desperate dog-whistle politics from Vote Leave, who wan to talk about anything other than the huge hit our economy would take if we left the EU. If we leave, experts say we would enter recession which would hit every community in Britain. Leaving would hit our economy to the tune of 4,300 thousand GBP a year for the average household.”

Continuing on her comments, Baroness Meral Hussein Ece said “The Turkish community in Britain have made a great contribution to our national life, economically and culturally.” Asking the Baroness on the accuracy of the Sunday Express-made story, she commented on the event as a complete deceiving, by saying Brexit campaigners are using Turkey as a tool by scaremongering people, worryingly through lying about what is happening between the EU and Turkey. Baroness Ece stated that the only agreement between Turkey and the EU is now about Turkey sheltering the refugees in its territory and gaining a visa-free travel in return. This visa free travel does not comprise full immigration, in other words, such an event like 12 million Turks coming to the UK to work can never be experienced as this is not the agenda of the agreement. Baroness Ece delivered her frustration on these events by saying “I am ultimately sad that Turkey’s political agenda has been distorted through inaccurate news to scaremonger people.”
