Pure London Fair, which is organized twice a year, the leading fashion-clothes fair in Europe, has began. Turkey was one of the main sponsors for the event.
The exhibition had taken place during the dates of 14-15-16 February, 2016, near Kensington district, Olympia fair hall. The fair hosted more than 800 fashion design brands, as well as staging seminars about the current market trends.
Turkey sponsored the fair
Turkey contributed the fair with 20 companies. The board president of IHKIB, Hikmet Tanrıverdi underlined once again the importance of Turkey’s sponsorship. As he put it: “ England is an important market for us; whilst our trading volume decreased in some European countries like Germany, France; our export to England has seen an increase by 6 percent. After Spain, England is the second country where we increased our export. Many English corporations are using Turkey for production; Marks&Spencer, Forever 21, Arcadia Group,Top Shop are some examples. In the long run, we intent to carry Turkish ready wear to England as a brand. We need more time. Most companies here are businesses that have been running for 50-100 years. It is impossible to open a branch lets say, in Oxford street. It is a hard task to penetrate into an already established system. However, we have seen much progress, once upon a time Turkey was used as a production estate. Now we do our own designs and transport our goods in England. England processes the design. There are countries cheaper than us; such as, China, Bangladesh – Turkey is a more superior market than the above, through its designing capabilities and abilities in producing fine clothing.
