CHP’s (Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi) – Republican People’s Party, Turkey – MPs Gursel Tekin and Sezgin Tanrikulu spoke about the current in Turkey during a panel organised by CEFTUS.

Our Planes cannot fly within our own borders

MP Gursel Tekin began with the Russian plane crisis, Refugee crisis and Turkey’s current position in face of the conflict(s). She claimed that the European Union and United nations are the most “important actors” in the crisis.
“Turkey is in a very hard situation. Even though coalition planes can fly within our airspace, our planes cannot.”
Tekin voiced concerns over Turkey’s role in the Iran-Saudia conflict, especially considering that America is siding with Saudia while Russia is allied with Iran. She Said: “Turkey should take a mutual stance and try and cross-talk between both parties.”
MP Sezgin Tanrikulu questioned AKP’s stance gainst PYD: “Considering that the PYD is protecting its people against ISIS, why is the AKP so un-comfortable with this?,” said Mr. Tanrikulu.
Sezgin, suggested that the 7th November, 2015, election was the bases for the end of the peace talks, as can be seen from the barricades seen in Cizre, Diyarbakir.
Both MPs attended an networking event held the night before, attended by many – including Mps Angus McNeil, Natalie McGray and Phil Boswell and Spanish diplomat Maria Sanjurjo.
