BRITISH WOMEN’S PLATFORM has held a debate on “The Woman’s place in society” and discussed the problem.

Nusret Gümüşboğa

Nusret Gümüşboğa

Singer and vocalist Nusret Gümüşboğa, was a speaker at the event held by the British Women’s Platform (IKP Ingiltere Kadin Platformu) and spoke about the women’s place in the Anatolia and spoke of her life experiences.

The singer said: “Any abuse towards women is not acceptable and is a crime, women should be informed of their rights and treated with respect.”

Out of the organised civil community organisations, the British Women’s Platform came together for the Republic of Turkey Celebration event and members from the panel  “A Women’s place in Society”.

Nusret Gümüşboğa was a speaker at the event where she spoke of abuse with in the family and to raise awareness on abuse with the family, with the “Life is Love” project. She spoke with the other women guests who attended on this issue and about awareness.

On the anniversary of Turkey becoming a Republic, the Great Leader Atatürk, together with fellowship heroes gave women their most meaningful gift. The gift he gave was freedom and independence, women also fought standing side by side with the soldiers and gave support in other ways to them from behind the front line.

Since 2012 this project “Life is Love” has been in place and been led by Nusret Gümüşboğa, she spoke of her own life experiences and listen to experiences from the women among them as well.

Nusret Gümüşboğa continued by saying: “The place of women in society and the right to be a part in community places is being disposed of. It’s being weakened. To simplify it, being a woman everywhere is hard. Life is love. A world that is filled with more love, away from abuse and violence will give us peace and blessing creating happiness.”

She continued by saying: “We will continue to support women who are being abused with our Life is Love projects concert which say “No to Women Violence” and raise awareness at the same time.”

The talk which received great interest was members of the British Women’s Platform ask the singer endless questions and spent a lot of time talking with another.

The platform has also taken on important projects to strengthen women within the society and community.

One of the biggest barriers is language, so to help those who do need to learn English will have new ESOL classes begin next week.

Founder and director of  the platform Nilgün Yıldırım, announced that the courses will being on Friday 13 November at the Embassy Cafe, 116 Newington Green, N16 9EH. To apply, please call 07578238733
