AN EDUCATION MEETING has taken place at the Yunus Emre Culture Centre by the England Turkish Language and Education Consortium, for 2015-2016 school year.

The meeting saw  Head of the Consortium, Kelami Dedezade give a talk and speak of  several complaints on aspects he was not happy with. His biggest criticism was that not enough headteachers of schools attend meetings. The fight to stop Turkish GCSE and A-Level exams being abolished was not enough explained Dedezade.

“Protecting the Turkish Language Campaign is shameful”

School representatives also introduced themselves and was then followed by Head Dedezade who spoke of the ‘Protecting the Turkish Language’ campaign.  He said: “The campaign to protect the Turkish language and works are shameful, this is something that not only the young generation but also the families and teachers should give importance to. They didn’t.”

Head Kelami Dedezade also gave a special thanks to Londra Gazete, in regards to the Turkish examinations and its service as a publication. It set up a petition and makes sure they work with official and private foundations to continuously inform the public and community.

Necmi Hasanoğlu also shared his thoughts on the Turkish GCSE and A-Level exams wanting to be stopped. He said: “It was first announced that 2017 would be the last time for students to sit the GCSE and A-Level exams in  the Turkish language, then it was said that it would be until 2018. However, the foundation then confirmed that the decision on the Turkish language lesson and exams were final.”

The meeting continued by requesting teachers sent by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus have their contracts made longer by  the consortium. Should this not be the case, the teachers will be deployed and this will end up costing the same amount. The funds collected for the shared building campaign is very little and they called upon wealthy and successful businessmen to give their support. There was also information given on presentations and seminars that could be presented to teachers. A meeting is to be held once every month with all the schools attending.
