MUSLIM MP Sadiq Khan has won the place of being a candidate for the Labour Party’s London Council Leader in 2016.

The young politician left behind several candidates including Tessa Jowell, Diane Abbott, David Lammy, Christian Wolmar and Gareth Thomas, winning the position of being a candidate.

Sadiq Khan, who is from a Pakistani refugee family explained how honored he was to be selected for this duty of being a candidate in his thank you speech.

Throughout his campaign, he used the slogan and message of: “I want to save London from Boris Johnson and make it more livable city.” Sadiq Khan first succeeded in entering the British Parliament in 2005 at the age of just 34. His name is one of ones in front, the now 44 year-old Shadow Justice Minister saw his campaign association reach as far as previous Council leader Ken Livingstone.

As the son of a bus driver and one of eight children, despite being recognised as a well-known Human Rights Solicitor, Khan explains that his biggest priority is to fix the problem of housing in London.

Sadiq Khan was also a representative for the Tooting area in South London during the third general elections in May earlier this year. Between 2008- 2010, he took on minister duties and is Britain’s second Muslim to become a member of the cabinet.
