The Alevi Cultural Centre is to hold a series of exams this weekend to test the community’s ability in a range of subjects.
Exams in Mathematics, English, Science and Turkish will be held at the centre this coming Sunday, 7 June, as well as in less conventional subjects like guitar, piano and folkdancing.
Özcan Çelik, who is responsible for education, culture and arts at the centre in Dalston, said they were bringing in a professional teaching team for the 2015-16 academic year and that they wanted to ensure young people did not leave their futures to chance.
Mr Çelik said it was important than ever that they raised a generation of talented, able youths in touch with the information age and their own social and cultural values.
He said students only needed to register for the exams in order to take part and that the student who emerges with the highest mark from each ability level would be given a full scholarship for the coming term.
