Enfield’s Güney Doğan and Doğan Delman can boast a 100% attendance record for their first year
Enfield’s youngest and oldest Turkish-speaking councillors have been the community’s most committed representatives according to figures obtained by Londra Gazete.
Attendance figures obtained from the council have revealed both Labour councillor Güney Doğan and Doğan Delman, the veteran Conservative member, did not miss a single council meeting since they were elected in May last year.
A record 33 Turkish-speaking councillors were elected across London at the local elections in May 2014, when Enfield lived up to its status as Britain’s most Turkish borough by electing 16 councillors.

The figures, obtained by Londra Gazete following a Freedom of Information request, show the attendance of each Enfield councillor at formal council meetings since that election.
Prominent cabinet members such as Ahmet Öykener, Yasemin Brett, Ayfer Orhan and Alev Cazimoğlu – all of whom are expected attend more than 30 meetings every year because of their cabinet and committee responsibilities – were toward the top of the attendance list, having sent apologies for missing only a handful of meetings.
