The daughter of a woman who fell to her death from a Wood Green tower block a year ago has appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

Dora Matthews, 43, fell to her death from Elizabeth Blackwell House in the early hours of 19 December 2013 after visiting a flat on the 14th floor.

Her daughter, Bianca, said she just wanted to know what happened to her moher.

She said: “I am still very distressed over my mother’s death. I don’t have any closure. I would urge anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward. I just really want to know what happened to my mother.”

Detectives returned to the scene on Wednesday this week to hand out leaflets and speak to local residents and other people in the area.

Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh, who is leading the investigation, said: “Dora Matthews’ death is a tragic loss of life, and my condolences are with her family.

“Her death has left a daughter and other family members without specific answers as to how it happened and we continue to try to find, and prove, those answers.

“What we really want is to hear from anyone who was in or around the Elizabeth Blackwell House area prior to 5am when Dora was found. Did you see anything? Did you hear anything? Was there anything you thought was suspicious?

“We are also interested in talking to anyone who knew Dora, were part of her life, and knew the circles she moved in and what was happening in her life the weeks before her death.

“Please do not assume that someone else has provided the information that you hold. It is possible that without anyone coming forward we may never fully understand how Dora died.”

Detectives know Ms Matthews had visited a flat in the block, which was not her home address, at around 11.45am the previous day. She either fell or came out of a top floor flat – on the 14th floor – of Elizabeth Blackwell House before she was found by police at 5am on the 19 December.

Later that day a 43-year-old man was arrested in connection with the investigation and later bailed pending further enquiries.

Any witnesses or anyone with information are asked to call the incident room on 020 8785 8099, police via 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via crimestoppers-uk.org.
