The British Alevi Federation has received a response to the petition it submitted to the British prime minister’s office a fortnight ago.
The letter, address to federation chief İsrafil Erbil, writes: “I am writing on behalf of the Prime Minister to thank you for your recent letter and petition.
“Mr Cameron is most grateful for the time and trouble you have taken to get in touch.
“I have been asked to forward your letter and petition to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, so that they too are aware of your views.”
The petition containing eight thousand signatures called for an end to violence in the Middle East and for all Western countries including Britain to “remove themselves” from the Middle East.
