The tragic death of Ali Mehmet Gomez, who lives in London, caused deep sorrow in the Turkish-speaking community in England.
The 36-year-old has been part of London’s Turkish football community for many years, having played for teams Yeni Boğaziçi and Dumlupinar and then moving into the Veteran legal within the Turkish Community Football Federation (TTFF).
Sharing a message of condolence on behalf of the board of directors on the TTFF on social media, saying: “As the Turkish Community Football Federation, the news of our brother Ali Gomez’s untimely death has hurt us deeply. We learned that he died as a result of an illness at home. Ali Gomez has been part of our league for many years. He was a player who played football for many of our teams and stood out with his success. He was last in the Bosphorus and nowadays he is actively playing in the Yeni Bogazici Veteran team. Also, our brother has carried our logo and crest in our karma for years. We are still in great shock to receive this sad news. We send our prayers and condolences to his family.”
