ASSOCIATION of Turkish Women In GB (BTKD), celebrated its 20th anniversary with an online meeting.
The Founding Honorary President of the Association, Sefire Handan Haktanır, former presidents and many members of the association attended the meeting.
At the meeting chaired by BTKD President Servet Hassan, Founding Honorary President Haktanır stated that she was very happy to see friendly faces again after 20 years and saying: “As our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said, “The most beautiful things in the world are the work of women”. Unity is strength. It is not difficult to establish associations. The most important and difficult thing is to live. Celebrating 20 years is very important. I congratulate you all cordially. ”
The celebration was online much like many of the association activities which have had to be in a virtual environment for the last two years due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Hassan said, “We have tried to represent Turkish women, Turks and Turkey in the best way in the country we live in for twenty years, and to be a bridge between our homeland and our second homeland. We carried out activities to ensure social solidarity among our women who came to England for various reasons. We donated a considerable amount of income from our activities to various purposes, especially women, children and education. We have kept our Association above all else in our voluntary work for twenty years, and we have reached the twentieth year. We can’t be prouder of our success”
