THE London Women’s Solidarity Platform shared a statement on Monday, 8 November, ahead of the upcoming 25 November the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
Stating that violence against women is not limited to any geography, the statement said, “Women continue to fight against femicides, all kinds of violence, usurpation of rights and war policies all over the world by increasing their organized power.”
Gül Çiftçi read the statement on behalf of the platform saying; “We will continue to fight against violence together. 25 November a day honouring the date of the killing Patria, Minerva and María Teresa, known as the Mirabal Sisters; who all worked in challenging the regime of Dominican Republic dictator Rafael Trujillo in 1960…
“Every day, 137 women are killed by a member of their family or ex-partner because they are women around the world. Since the beginning of the year, more than 100 women have been murdered in England, 103 women in Germany, 95 women in France, 75 women in Italy, 24 women in Switzerland, 22 women in Austria, and 17 women in Belgium.
“With the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, it was first mentioned that the attacks on women’s rights increased…”
