THE Çanakkale Commemoration Platform (ÇAP) celebrated the 102nd anniversary of Atatürk’s arrival with a special online conference.

Joining together with ÇAP members as well as members of the community to take part in the conference with guest speaker Hikmet Özdemir.

ÇAP President Servet Hassan’s guest speaker Prof Özdemir made a presentation written “The Longest and Most Difficult Year of Atatürk: 1919”.

Özdemir, drew attention to detailed details in his speech, and after Atatürk sailed from Istanbul to Samsun on the Bandırma ferry on May 16, 1919. Samsun, Havza, Amasya, Tokat, Sivas, Erzurum, Erzincan, Kayseri and finally he spoke of  the difficulties he faced during the 225 days that passed until he arrived in Ankara on December 27, 1919 and how he organized the National Struggle in Anatolia.”

Going on to explain that Mustafa Kemal and his friends spent 225 days in the bosom of Anatolia, intertwined with the people, from the evening of May 16, when they sailed to the Black Sea from the Bosphorus, to Ankara at noon on December 27, on the Bandırma ferry. The start of his historical journey with the duty of “army inspector”, continued the remaining part of the journey as a “member of the nation” and organized the National Struggle.
