Speaking to Londra Gazete the President of the Cyprus Islamic Society, Hüseyin Haşim El Bakayi, stated that 6 more Turkish Cypriots have passed away in the last 4 weeks due to coronavirus.
Taking the known figures of deaths within the community to 368, of these 79 originate from Turkey while the majority 289 are Turkish Cypriot. But its believed that the real number of community members lost to the virus stand to be much higher.
As the rate of infection falls and the number of cases drops, the vaccine is now available for any over the age of 50 to receive as wells care workers and front line staff.
We followed a number of people that have had the vaccine since the start of the campaign in December, with many calling it the ‘light at the need of the tunnel’.
NHS worker Rasiha Adem told us that the vaccine is: “The light at the end of the tunnel is seen but we have more work to get there. So please, if you’re eligible and invited please get your vaccination and save not only your life but the lives of many others. The vaccine is vital, the vaccine saves lives.”
If you eligible to have the vaccine and you can book a test at www.nhs.uk website.
