Tate Modern, one of the UK’s leading art institutions, has unveiled its 2026 exhibition program, highlighting major solo shows dedicated to prominent women artists such as Tracey Emin, Frida Kahlo, and Ana Mendieta.
Tracey Emin: The Artistic Expression of Passion and Pain
The exhibition dedicated to Tracey Emin, a British artist of Turkish Cypriot descent, will feature her paintings, videos, textiles, neon artworks, writings, sculptures, and installations. Tate emphasizes that the show will explore how Emin transforms her life experiences into art and her lifelong dedication to painting.
This exhibition follows Emin’s successful showcases at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence (Sex and Solitude) and the Yale Centre for British Art (I Loved You Until the Morning), further solidifying her influence in the contemporary art world.
About Tracey Emin
Born in 1963 in London, Tracey Emin is a contemporary British artist known for exploring themes of identity, belonging, trauma, love, sexuality, and the female body. With an English mother and a Turkish Cypriot father, Emin has frequently drawn on her personal experiences to create bold, confessional, and often provocative works.
After studying at the Royal College of Art, Emin emerged in the 1990s as a leading figure in the Young British Artists (YBAs), a movement known for its unconventional and often controversial approach to art.
Emin’s fearless exploration of female perspective, emotional vulnerability, and personal storytelling has cemented her as one of the most influential artists of modern times. Her works have been exhibited globally and are part of numerous prestigious collections.
