The Mayor of London has said this morning that if London is moved into Tier 3 it would be ‘catastrophic’.
The city is currently in Tier 2 – meaning household mixing is banned indoors – but pubs can stay open if they can operate as restaurants.
Speaking live on Sky News asked what going into Tier 3 would mean, Mr Khan replied: “If London was to go into Tier 3, it would be catastrophic to those industries already crippling under the pandemic.
“It would mean many bars, restaurants and shops going bust.
“We’re keen to make sure we stay in Tier 2.” noting that even in Tier2 many faces challenges.
Adding that “It really important that Londoners continues to make huge sacrifices, nobody wants London to go into Tier 3 or even the country go into a future third national lockdown”
