UK Turkish Teachers Association(İTÖD )has issued a congratulatory message for yesterday’s (November 24) Teachers’ Day.
UK Turkish Teachers Association Chair Eşref Yılmaz shared the following message: “24 November Teacher’s Day is celebrated every year since 1981. Why is Teacher’s Day celebrated on November 24? What happened on November 24? Here are the curious details; November 24, 1928, the founder of Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk’s was announced to be the headteacher of the nation.
“The Council of Ministers gave Mustafa Kemal Atatürk the title of ‘Head Teacher of Nation Schools’ at its meeting on November 11, 1928, and this title became official with the publication of the Nation Schools Instruction on November 24.
“We, as the UK Turkish Teachers Association, celebrate both the International Teachers’ Day and the day that Atatürk started as a literacy campaign and wish all teachers success.
“On this occasion, I invite our teachers to be a member of our association, share their opinions and suggestions, and especially the resources they use in Turkish teaching, to help them in providing a better education.”
