ERTUĞRUL Mehmet, Chairman of the Council of Turkish Cypriot Association (CTCA), condemned what was written on social media against the TRNC London Representative Oya Tuncalı.
Chairman of CTCA shared a written statement on this matter, Mehmet reminded that flights were stopped in March due to the virus, and two planes were placed to TRNC – Ercan airport with special permission and TRNC students which were studying in the UK managed to go back.
In the statement, Mehmet reminded that the TRNC London Representative office, Turkish Cypriot Student Federation and Education attaché worked in collaboration for these flights.
The entire statement of CTCA Chairman is as follows:
“We condemn the social media posts shared against our TRNC London Representative Oya Tuncalı.
International flights stopped in March due to the virus. In the first place, two reparation flights were placed between Stansted and Ercan with special permission for our university students studying in the United Kingdom. Our representative, Education Attaché, Turkish Cypriot Student Federation worked in cooperation for these flights.
When a large number of TRNC citizens came and found to be stuck in England, our London representative office of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, our Education Attaché, the Council of Turkish Cypriot Association and Cyprus Paradise cooperated to ensure that five more reparation flights took place and these people managed to go back to TRNC.
Hence, taking into consideration of the above, the posts and voice recordings circulating on social media are both disrespectful and unfair towards our TRNC London Representative.”
