Enfield cycle scheme has begun

IT has been announced that work has begun for the next period of cycle Enfield scheme.

A multi-million pound network of cycle lanes has started last week on the A1010 South Corridor section of Cycle Enfield that will operate from Ponders End to White Hart Lane.

It has been stated that the new cycle scheme will be physically divided from traffic to affirm cyclists are safeguarded from vehicles and buses.

The Cycle Enfield is set to cost £42 million and anticipated to be officially established in the next four years, the intention to reduce congestion and pollution and by aiming to increase the amount of people cycling alongside the notion of providing improved quality infrastructure.

It is inclusive of a plan to endorse 5% of journeys in London are made by bicycle by 2026.

The Enfield Council’s cabinet member for environment, Cllr Daniel Anderson, stated:

“It was absolutely fantastic to see so many people celebrating the culmination of three years of hard work with the completion of the A105 cycle lanes.”
