Windrush cancer patient receives treatment date

ALBERT Thompson receives date for cancer treatment.

Cancer patient Albert Thompson, the man who has been a vital focal point of much of the Windrush quarrel, has received a date to begin his treatment on the NHS.

Last year he was told that he is due to pay £54,000 for a treatment if he couldn’t produce the right documentation.

The Royal Marsden Hospital in London stated that the 63 year old cancer patient would receive his radiotherapy “as an NHS patient”.

During Prime Ministers Questions the Labour leader Corbyn mentioned this situation last week and accused Theresa May to refusing to help him.

Thus, Theresa May stated that the Home Office has been in touch with Mr Thompson’s representative and noted that his NHS treatment should never have been retained.

Laura Stahnke of Praxis, the immigration charity helping Mr Thompson, stated it was pleased he was receiving his treatment, but continued “it shouldn’t have taken all this media attention, and his case being debated in Parliament for him to get there”.

The Royal Marsden Hospital statement said: “Mr Thompson has attended the Royal Marsden this week to plan the next stage of his treatment and has a date to start his radiotherapy. He is being treated as an NHS patient.”
