AMATEUR and professional photographers living in London and people who are curious about photography came together to create a photo club. The London Alternative Photography Society (LAPS) is made up of people from different cultures and industries. Members come together every week, gathering together under the leadership of businessman Emrah Şahbaz, who is known for his interest in photography. At the meetings held at the Day-Mer Centre, the professional photographers share their experiences in photography as well as the theoretical knowledge about photography. The club is open to everyone and is free of charge.
Purpose is to share information
Emrah Şahbaz, the founder of the club, spoke to Londra Gazete about the progress of LAPS and the work that has been done so far. “We aim to bring together amateur and professional photo enthusiasts who are separated from each other at various levels in London. At the meetings we have held so far, we had a map out of how we should lead. In our meeting last week, we had our first lesson on the history of photography.
After a very productive first three weeks, our membership has continues to increase. We will soon be practicing to reinforce the theoretical knowledge we have learned and shared with each other during the Day-Mer hosting. This will help us show how far we have progressed in photography, as well as make up for what we lack. Our club is totally free and the door is open to everyone’s. Those who want to become LAPS members can join us on Thursday evening at the Day-Mer Centre in Tottenham. ”
Şahbaz also emphasised that London is a unique place for photographers, “London, with its unique historical and cultural values, attracts photographers from all over the world.”.
