CHP Istanbul deputy Mahmut TANAL proposed a law on the exemption of our citizens living abroad for their passports.

According to the information reached to our gazette, Human Rights Commissioner Tanal presented the bill to the Turkish Grand National Assembly on the exemption of expatriates for their passports as follows:

“Justification: Our expatriate citizens who live abroad are away from our homeland and are deprived of the affection and patronage of our state who try to keep our country’s cultures and traditions alive in foreign countries.

Among the tasks assigned to our country in the fifth article of our Constitution, strengthening the cultural, traditional bond with our country, our citizens, who are trying to raise their children by trying to provide their livelihoods in countries with different cultures and traditions, far away from our country. Article 5 of our Constitution states that “the main aims and tasks of the state, the protection of the independence and integrity of the Turkish nation, the indivisibility of the country, the republic and democracy, the prosperity, peace and happiness of the people and the society; to remove the political, economic and social obstacles that limit the basic rights and freedoms of a person in a way that is incompatible with the principles of social law and justice, and to prepare the conditions necessary for the development of the material and spiritual existence of the person. ”

As can be seen, one of the main duties of our state is to provide the welfare, peace and happiness of the people and the society. Strengthening our ties with the Motherland for the welfare, peace and happiness of our expatriates living abroad, and the provision of facilities for the arrival and departure of motherland are among the duties given to our country with this article.
