A woman has been found guilty of murdering her partner at the home they shared in Haringey.

Gyuldzhan Hadzhieva, 38 (23.03.78) of Northumberland Park, N17 was today, Friday 12 August found guilty at Wood Green Crown Court of the murder of 32-year-old Shenol Erol Ali at their home on Northumberland Park, N17.

She will be sentenced on Monday 15 August.

The court heard that police were called at 11:30hrs on Wednesday, 3 February by the London Ambulance Service to reports of an injured man and woman at a residential address.

The man – later identified as Shenol – was pronounced dead the scene.

A post-mortem examination held at Haringey Mortuary gave cause of death as multiple stab wounds.

Hadzhieva had also suffered multiple injuries and was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Detectives from the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command launched an investigation and discovered that the hallway leading to the room where the couple lived was covered by a CCTV camera. A review of the footage established that no one else had entered the room around the time of the attack.

It was also suggested to officers that Shenol had been planning on leaving Hadzhieva.

Hadzhieva’s condition improved and on Monday, 8 February she was arrested on suspicion of murder.

She remained in hospital for a further 11 days before being taken into custody at a north London police station.

When interviewed, she claimed that Shenol had attacked her but refused to admit that she had stabbed him, even in self-defence.

She was charged with murder on Saturday, 20 February.

Detective Chief Inspector Andrew Chalmers, of the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: “Whilst the motive behind the murder remains unclear, one thing is certain, Hadzhieva inflicted multiple injuries on her partner in the room their shared.

“Her injuries were consistent with having been self-inflicted. Whether she planned to kill herself or hoped to pin the blame on Shenol, we may never know. However, she now faces a lengthy prison sentence for her actions that day.”
