Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Mr Tuğrul Türkeş, came to London to tackle and brief the media on the ongoing Cyprus-Turkey deals to ensure the relations with southern Cyprus are going well and healthy. Mr Türkeş said “We anticipate Turkish Cypriots to break free off any isolations and branch out globally”.

Talking at the Yunus Emre Institute in central London, also tackled the failed coup attempt by describing it as “the most worrying coup attempt of all times”. Mr Türkeş also got on with the current Cyprus-Turkey relations’ ongoing situation.

Saying that the North Cyprus President Mustafa Akıncı and South Cyprus leader Nikos Anastasiadis are carrying on progressive and great relations, Mr Türkeş said “Although the current North-South Cyprus relations are going well, just like every international debate, parties always leave the most challenging agenda(s) to the very end. This is why it is easy to define international relations as –great- in the beginning.

Mr Türkeş also ensured the participants that the emerging topics on North-South Cyprus relations like safety and housing shall be tackled. Moreover, Mr Türkeş mentioned that Mr Akıncı is quite interested in Turkey’s conviction and further negotiations shall be addressed with delicacy.

Mr Türkeş said:

“Housing is a very technical topic. Southern Cyprus residents’ approaches are hard to analyse. It is rather them wanting to obtain commodities in North Cyprus or demands payment without considering giving anything on their behalf. Don’t you think there aren’t any Turks living in South Cyprus with houses and valuables? We, as the Turkish Republic, defend an empathised negotiation series and want North Cyprus to be free off any oppressive limitations”. Answering questions on FETO terrorist group and Turkey’s level of trust to the UK on that matter, Türkeş said that the UK’s approaches always do take time to shape, and needs careful observations.
