Results from the public opinion poll carried out in Scotland reveal that 53 per cent of people living there want Scotland to remain under the governing/administrative structure of the United Kingdom.

Only 37 per cent of the participants indicated that they wanted Scotland to remain in the European Union but become independent from England.

Nicola Sturgeon, leader of the Scottish National Party, following the Brexit referendum that took place on the 23rd of June, repeatedly reminded the Scottish public that they had the option to be independent from England.

Sturgeon also pointed out that as 62 per cent of the Scottish population voted ‘remain’ in the EU referendum, Scotland not leaving the EU is in the best interests of the country.

Previously, 55 per cent of the Scottish public voted to remain in the United Kingdom in the referendum held in 2014.
