Turkey’s Foreign Ministry says that the Foreign Ministry’s website Germany gave misleading travel warning about Turkey.
The Ministry in Turkey stated that inconsistent information was given about the State of Emergency in Turkey. A statement given on July 22nd, appears to be misleading in regards to travel warnings as it states: “We would like to address that the information posted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany on the internet is incompatible with accurate information on the State of Emergency post coup attempt in Turkey. The purpose of the State of Emergency is not to restrict the fundamental rights of the Turkish citizens, but to end the power of the Fethullah Terrorist organisation as soon as possible.
Under the State of Emergency, German’s who are expecting to travel to our country may not be able to gain a Turkish citizenship or receive military service. It is made known that in our country from the 21st of July 2016, article 120 of the Constitution and the 2395 State of Emergency, the first paragraph of Article 3 (b) a state of emergency has been declared.
In this context, under the State of Emergency Act, conscription is not permitted. On the other hand, there are no restrictions on passport holders travelling to other countries, but restrictions on the travel of our nationals abroad are of interest only to public officials. Therefore travel advisories containing inaccurate or misleading information are of German authorities.”
