Over the past month in London during Ramadan, the mayor of London Sadiq Khan spoke to many people from various leading sectors.

This event took place in Guildhall located in central London, where economic, political, military issues were discussed and many distinguished guests attended from areas such as security and art. During the event, an organisation which aims to tackle islamophobia “Tell Mama UK” also supported the evening. The project coordinator of Tell Mama UK Fiyaz Mughal highlighted the increasing Islamophobic actions taking place in the UK ever since Brexit, by saying: “we are witnessing the widespread of prejudice and discrimination from the place which we grew up in, and we are here to stop it.

This is a time in which we need to remember that we are all human.” Once Mughal’s speech came to an end, Asif Sadiq, the Muslim’s cops Federation took to the podium, thanking the army generals and police officers followed by stating that Islam is peace, solidarity, sharing, and tolerance as well as reinforcing the fact that the many terrorist groups such as Daesh has never promoted what Islam is truly about. After the long round of applause that Sadiq received, the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan spoke about how honoured he was to be part of the event and said he believes that in these hard times the world is going through, collectively, peace, respect and solidarity emphasized that faith should be at the highest level. He then continued by saying, “London is the world’s most beautiful City.

The beauty is created by the people from different nationalities. As Londoner’s, we shouldn’t criticize different accents, cultures and religious views of others, but be happy about their existence, and must protect these mosaic values. During the time in which my family moved from Pakistan to England, when they first arrived they witnessed restaurant signs that said ‘Pakistani’s, Irish and dogs aren’t allowed’. For many years my family didn’t speak out and were even ashamed of their identity.
