Day-Mer carries on providing events on war and refugee agendas by bringing the topics up again at its 27th Day-Mer festival panel series.

Turkish-Kurdish solidarity centre Day-Mer invited well-known Turkish journalist Ercüment Akdeniz, John Rees from The People’s Assembly and Powell Davies from the National Union of Teachers in to a panel on refugees and wars. Moderated by Day-Mer’s Çınar Altun, the first speaker Powell Davies tackled the increasing racist discourse over 65 million refugees’ situation worldwide.

Answering questions on Brexit, Davies stated that the Brexit is not the end of the World but the process will be torminious and difficult for the country’s prospects. After Davies, John Rees from People’s Assembly mentioned one of the biggest refugee campaign between France and the UK Calais by stating the significance of helping people per day and how it is growing day by day. Rees, also mentioned the divided opinions’ reign in the Conservative Party and should it continue like this, this could be party’s undoing.

Journalist Ercüment Akdeniz, then presented a photo slide show by remarking his points on war and immigration. The dramatic presentation was highly liked by the audience along with his speech.
