The event that took place at the Yunus Emre Institute in central London, was opened by the speech of Harvey Binnie which later on passed to the screening. In the documentary that comprised many political references, the viewers indicated that it was impressive to see how much of a joint achievement it was, especially talking for English and Turkish politics. Dr William Brown, who had been a continous contributor to the Turkish engineering scene was also assigned to the design of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge and İzmir Gulf.
The documentary was focusing on cultural and political heritages of Istanbul, by also including that the idea of intertwining two shores of Istanbul relies back in ancient years, to a myth when BC 522-486, the Prince 1st Darius intended to lead the enterprise. Throughout the history, Dr Brown actually has been renowned by the “achiever”.
The Severn Bridge in the UK, with its innovative box girder deck, was a turning point in Bill’s career. His accomplishment with the Severn Bridge, led Brown to take on a heroic quest on the management of his most ambitious Project yet: bridging the mighty Bosphprus Strait in Istanbul.
Dr William Brown, stated that “Istanbul is a majestic city and I can think of no better place to wish to build a bridge. A bridge, which is not only across the Bosphorus linking both parts of Istanbul, not even a bridge between two continents within Turkey, but a bridge to link people and nations as well.”
The screening carried on a Q/A session after the documentary.
