As a tribute to Dr. Tozun Isa’s unforgettable support to education in London-Turkish speaking communities, a great commemoration event was organized to which his family and his dear friends attended.
As a tribute to Dr. Tozun Isa’s unforgettable support to education in London-Turkish speaking communities, a great commemoration event was organized to which his family and his dear friends
attended. In the event Some of the attendants were: KKTC London consulate Ulku Alemdar, TC London representatives, Dr. Isa’s family: his wife, children, grandchildren, as well as his colleagues and close friends.
The commemoration started with a speech delivered by Kalemi Dedezade, who underlined Tozun Isa’s important contributions to the society. Ozem Huroglu, who followed after presented a brief biography of Isa’s life and read a poem written by him. The wife in greed started his words by thanking the Education Consortium. She mentioned their forty years old companionship, which started at the age of 19. She stated her husband’s arduous studies and indifferent understanding in education.
A humorous memory from the brother
The brother Bulent Erciyas took up the stage. He mentioned an old memory in which Dr. Isa wrote an essay on behalf of his brother for a school assignment. The essay became the second in a regional competition. The brother was later questioned at school by teachers, who posed series of questions to make sure it was an authentic one. After retelling his anxious confrontation with the teachers and the second place –award, Dr. Isa responded: “I’m sorry that it became the second, I could not concentrate properly, I had to write it in a short amount of time.
Erkan Pastırmacıoğlu, Ercümen İbrahim, Aygül İbrahim and Emine Ay, sung two of Dr. İsa’s favourite songs. After the brief musical performance Dr. Aliestair Ross thanked Isa for his supports to education throughout London.
The succeeding speeches were followed by a short movie. The friends and the family had emotional moments to see old footages of Isa, enjoying playing guitar with his grandson.
